Description
Cassia angustifolia
Contains: Anthraquinone glycosides. Sennosides A and B, Sennidin A & B, senosides C & D. Glycosides. Acts as a cathartic.
Traditional Uses:
Used as a powerful cathartic in the treatment of constipation. (It stimulates the intestinal peristalsis, triggering bowel movement some 12 hours later. Anal- fissures, anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, cellular regeneration, cleansing, detoxifying, hemorrhoids, pre and post operative cleansing.
Directions to use:
Infusion: Leaves and pods: Steep the dried leaves, 1 teaspoon or 3-6 pods in warm water for 10 – 15min. Strain and drink three times per day.
Cold infusion: Steep in cold water for 6 – 8 hours.
Safety precautions:
Do not use for longer than 10 days. Always remember that constipation is the cause of something else and the this should be sought and dealt with. Habitual use will cause lazy bowel syndrome. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
