Vulnerary, expectorant, demulcent, anti-inflammatory, astringent, diuretic, anti-microbial.
Traditional Uses:
It may soothe inflamed and sore membranes and therefore make it a useful herb in the treatment of coughs, phlegm in the lungs, bronchial asthma, tuberculosis of the lungs and mild bronchitis. It is helpful in cleansing the blood, lungs, and stomach. It may be beneficial for people with bad blood, weak lungs and kidneys, pale looks, eczema, and herpes. As well as weak children. May assist in treating diarrhea. May be used for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. Also, hemorrhoids and cystitis where there is bleeding. May be beneficial in the treatment of thrombosis. For congestion of mucus from the middle of the ear, glue ear and infections of the ear.
Directions to use:
Infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiling water onto 2 teaspoons of herb. Let it infuse for 10min. Strain and drink three times per day. Make an ointment for hemorrhoids and cuts.
