Nervine, hypotensive, cardiac depressant, possibly anti-tumor. Cytostatic, heart tonic, sedative.
Traditional Uses:
Remedy for epilepsy. Chronic cramps and hysterical complaints. Aids the metabolism. If taken over a long period it may help for diabetes. Chronic metabolic disorders. Improves concentration. Hormonal imbalance. For hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis) and stroke. It may soothe and tone the nervous system. Reduce heart rate and strengthens the wall of the peripheral capillaries. For lung-and-intestines-bleeding caused by typhoid or dysentery. Heart and circulatory complaints. An alternative for high and low blood pressure and the effects thereof like dizziness, buzzing in the ears and visual defects. It normalizes circulation and may therefore also help for uterine and menstrual disorders. Menopause. May offer new promise in the form of cancer therapy, particularly lung and ovarian cancer. Anxiety.
Directions to use:
Infusion: Soak 1 heaped teaspoon of herb in 1 cup of cold water overnight. Then slightly warm it up, strain and drink once or more a day.

The berries are toxic. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
