Antispasmodic, expectorant, diaphoretic, nervine anti-inflammatory, carminative
Traditional Uses:
May be beneficial for respiratory problems such as coughs and bronchitis. Assists in the removal of catarrh(loosens and expels accumulated phlegm) and may alleviate fevers. As a diaphoretic it can be used for common head colds. Known for its anti-spasmodic qualities. As a nervine it can be used for anxiety states, hysteria and petit mal (a form of epilepsy). Not so commonly known to assist in regulating blood pressure and bringing on delayed periods, especially when the cause is tension.Â
Directions to use:
Infusion:Â Pour 1 cup of boiling water onto 1-2 teaspoons of herb. Leave to infuse for 10-15min in a covered container. Strain and drink three times a day.
Poultice:Â For wounds, bruises, and rheumatism pain. It can be added to your bath for exhaustion.
Safety precautions:
Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
